Assessment and feedback play a vital role in Higher Education (HE). Assessment measures the extent of student learning regarding each Curricular Unit contents.  Feedback (more general) consists of information provided to the student, revealing the strengths and areas for improvement or development of their work, exercise or project.

Methods of assessment and feedback, including self-assessment and peer assessment, should be chosen with care and revised often – this training module is dedicated to the improvement of assessment in order to improve value for money to the outcomes of 21st century HE.

Three main areas of training are included in this module:

  • Innovative assessment practices (connected to active and technology-enhanced learning)
  • Feedback (maximizing validity, authenticity and inclusivity)
  • Self and peer assessment practices (promoting both student accountability and communication skills and allowing for greater self-regulation of learning).

This training module is especially relevant to faculty with responsibilities in assessment and to all teachers and researchers, since feedback is an essential tool for development.
